Classic Bathroom Plumbing Fixtures from Wayfair

I’m consistently thinking and planning ahead… this week I was presented with a potential opportunity that could result in renovating our primary bath. Finishes & Mixing Metals

I’m a fan of layering and mixing metals for a curated aesthetic. I think that’s a topic that stumps many people when making design selections- especially plumbing fixtures. Be sure to check out my Designer Trick post on mixing metals, here! When it comes to longevity, I think living brass, antique brass, and polished nickel have the best staying power (if you’re designing for the long haul)… followed by oil rubbed bronze that looks nearly black. Therefore, you’ll primarily see those finishes throughout my selections. However, all of these items come in multiple finishes, so you’ve got options, depending on your needs!

Bathroom Faucets

When shopping for bathroom faucets, you’ll need to know the type you’re shopping for based on specs…. a widespread faucet has three holes (two levers or handles and a spout), a single hole would indicate you’re shopping for a single spout faucet, etc. I’ve included all types throughout this roundup- all in timeless shapes and finishes, of course. I’ve also included deck mount and wall mount options.

Above, you may recognize the Moen Weymouth faucet from my basement bathroom, or the Delta Cassidy faucet from my guest bathroom– both are beautiful and affordable options. I tried to include fixtures for all budgets. Check out this blog post for my tips on how to choose widespread bathroom faucets!

Toilets

Oddly, not all toilets are created equal- in functionality or aesthetic. Having spent a lot of time traveling around Asia, and visiting Japan earlier this year- I’ve really been wishing for a smart toilet. This is also coming from a gal with chronic gut issues, so I’m fully on board with bidets. For our primary bathroom renovation, I’d love to have a smart toilet. I included both in this roundup…

Aside from my dream smart toilet that would exist in our primary water closet, all of our bathroom renovations end up with a Kohler Memoirs toilet. Why? I elaborate in this post… ways to upgrade your toilet! I look for a toilet that is easy to clean, has a nice form, is minimal, and I always stick to classic white.

Shower Trim & Tub Fillers

Shower plumbing fixtures are varied… tub fillers- which can either be floor mount or deck mounted, shower trim, levers, rain heads, valves, and thermostatic kits. Regardless of what specifications you’re looking for, make sure the scale of your shower fixtures align with the scale of your bathtub or shower.

From the collage, I have the Delta Cassidy in our guest bath, and the Moen Weymouth in our basement bath… matching the faucets I shared above. Be sure to give this blog post a read on how to choose cohesive bathroom plumbing fixtures!

Bathtubs

There are three main types of bathtubs: drop-in, alcove (like my tub pictured above), and freestanding. My dream bathtub is the soaking tub in the top left of the collage… expect to see that in our future primary bath someday- or something similar.

I think it’s worth noting- I also think clawfoot tubs are absolutely timeless, and I especially love them painted a color. I’d recommend going to vintage route if you have your heart set on a clawfoot.

Readymade Vanities & Sinks

keep in mind, many of these would look best with customization (a hardware swap, etc) copy link back to vanity post, single sinks double sinks, consoles sinks, … something from every category to get your wheels turning. I’ve included single sink vanities, double sinks, and even console sinks in the below collage- something from every category to get your wheels turning.

Keep in mind, many of these bathroom vanities would look best with customization of some sort (a hardware swap, updated stone, etc). Here is a detailed post on ways to customize a readymade bathroom vanity for a timeless designer look.

FAQ

What brands would you recommend searching for?

Luckily, Wayfair carries all of my favorite designer brands. My go-to budget brand is Kingston Brass. Average priced: Moen, Delta, and Kohler, to name a few… and high-end designer / more expensive: Rohl, Newport Brass, and Perrin & Rowe. Just off the top of my head!

What search terms would you use on Wayfair to find specific plumbing fixtures? They have so many.

I would be as specific as you can, and use their handy filter tool to help narrow your search. You can search by finish, fixture type, brand, price range, etc. I also put in my specs… like this: lavatory widespread faucet antique brass. Or polished nickel thermostatic shower kit.

Which brand offers the most finishes?

Hands down, Newport Brass– I think they have around 25 finishes, and they’re all very high-end.

  1. Good morning Sarah! Plumbing fixtures are so pretty to look at. Even updating one component in a bathroom elevates the entire feel. We have been slowly updating our bathrooms over the past few years. The footprint and bones of our bathrooms don’t need to be modified- just the aesthetic. We started by replacing our toilets- I too recommend the Kohler Memoir. I will note, check your local Costco or Costco online- we bought ours for half the price of what’s showing on the Wayfair link. Delta is my favorite brand for bath faucets. I love the profiles of their fixtures, and features like one touch plug/drain- game changer! There’s nothing worse than constantly fiddling with the levers on the standard ones. We have always had issues with those but Jeff was skeptical of the Delta ones I chose. After install I got his vote of approval, and we have had zero issues. The shower and tub trim will be next on the list. I love some of the options you’ve shown here, as well as the tubs! Eventually we’ll need to replace ours; these are sparkling white and a dream compared to a few of ours. You certainly have an eye for choosing bath fixtures- how exciting that an opportunity has presented itself with your primary bath. I know you love designing bathrooms, and I have no doubt you’ve got fantastic plans up your sleeve. Cheers to cooler weather this weekend! We have been moving along in the front room and have more to tick off the list this weekend. I hope you and Emmett have an enjoyable weekend ahead! Xoxo

Hi Lauren! So true- even one makes a big difference. They’re definitely fun to pick out. I’m envious your bathroom floor plans are nice as is. Our primary bath is WEIRD. Haha! I didn’t even think to check Costco for fixtures, but I’ll have to price compare the Kohler Memoir toilet once it’s time to swap another one (probably our powder room). Thanks for the tip! Delta / Brizo fixtures are so nice. We’ve also been impressed with our Moen fixtures. I’m hoping the bathroom partnership comes to fruition- you never about these things, but it would be with the company I traveled to Spain with earlier this year (total dream project). Fingers crossed! It sounds like fall is moving in this week. We did have a good weekend- I’m scrambling to pack for New York at the moment, but we were able to take the boat out one last time. Hope you guys had a good one, too! xo

  2. Good morning! First of all, fingers crossed for your primary bath partner opportunity! Whenever you renovate it, I know we’ll be in for a treat. I’m eager to see how you rework *all* that space. As for this post, omg, SO many options (Read- decisions 😬)! Designing an entire bathroom from scratch makes me want to take a nap! We’ve replaced a couple of fixtures over the years but may consider more extensive upgrades, so I’ll take all the potty posts. 🤣 (My search history now includes “what is a smart toilet?”) I appreciate that Wayfair has such an array of high quality products. I would love to source as much as possible from one place. Our local outlets are uber limited, and my zest for infinite searching has waned, tbh. I’ll pin this post for now and return to it when I’ve got a clearer plan (and budget!). In the meantime, this sunny day holds more zhushing and cleaning for me. I hope you also got some cooling, smoke-clearing rains. Wishing you worry free travel and oodles of fun next week! Cheers to a glorious Pizza Friday, Sarah!💜

Thank you! Fingers crossed… it’s with the company I visited Spain with earlier in the year. Eek! Talk about a dream partnership. Sometimes I can’t believe this turned into my “adult job”, ha. I feel like Japan has figured out the toilet situation. Even the hole in the wall bars or businesses have smart toilets with bidets- talk about luxury, lol! That is a great point about sourcing from a single retailer to streamline renovating. It definitely makes things so much easier to keep tabs on. Our air cleared over the weekend and we’ve got rain in the forecast, which makes me happy with all these fires (but not so great for our patio tile, which is crawling). Hope you had a fun weekend! We indeed did have pizza on Friday, so you know we had a good one!

  3. Sarah, this blog post couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I’m about to get going on a master bathroom remodel and had been really second guessing my finishes. This post gave me a little push to change my plans and I feel so much better!! Thank you. I chose Moen Belfield in Polished Nickel. I think it’s so pretty. I do have a question that’s bugging me a little. Am I allowed to ask for some free advice?? The bath drain and overflow on the freestanding bathtub I have chosen is only available in a chrome finish. Should I care? Is it failure at the last hurdle to leave it?

    1. Sarah Gibson says:

I’m so glad to hear that, Rhonda! I hope your bathroom remodel is of to a good start. I’m glad you’re feeling better about your design plan. Moen Belfield is a beautiful line! Classic- especially in polished nickel. I do prefer my bath drain and overflow to match the tub plumbing fixtures, but I’d check them in person to see how they compare. Sometimes chrome can look close enough. I’d also consider where your bath trim is… is it close in proximity to the overflow or drain? Depending on where it’s mounted, it may be far enough to make it work. I hope that helps!
