Quince Linen Bedding Review: Layered Sheet Set, Duvet, & Quilt

Now that I’ve skied to my heart’s content this winter, I’m officially ready to welcome spring with open arms. We’re less than four weeks away! Aside from warmer weather, sunshine, and longer days, I look forward to making changes around our home each season. In fact, I’ve already started. Last month, I (prematurely) ordered lighter bedding, which is what I’m excited to share with you today! Have you heard of Quince? I’ve been shopping their clothing for a couple years now, but this is the first time I’ve perused their home section. I’ve always known them to offer high quality, sustainable, and affordable clothing that rivals designer brands. While we’re planning to renovate our bedroom later this year, I thought fresh bedding might offer motivation. You can probably guess my opinion on our newly updated linens- I’m a big fan. Click through for my thoughts on the linen sheet set I ordered, linen duvet, linen quilt, tips for layering bedding, and for a rare peek at our primary bedroom before we begin to renovate in the months ahead…

I can’t wait to share my latest Quince order with you because we’ve been using our new bedding for a month now, and it’s safe to say- I approve. It’s luxe, has a classic aesthetic, and continues to get softer with each wash. Much like the Quince clothing I’ve purchased in the past, I can tell their bedding is also going to wear well. Here’s what I ordered…

How to Select Classic Bedding for a Layered Look

Before we open these packages, I’ve got a quick bed styling formula (and a few layering tips) for you…

  • Stick to natural or higher-end materials (cotton, linen, silk, bamboo, etc).
  • Select colors that feel cohesive with your bedroom or existing decor.
  • Layer the following (I do it in this order):
    • A sheet set (a fitted and flat sheet)
    • A quilt, coverlet, or matelassé
    • A duvet set
    • Sleeping pilllows
    • A single long lumbar, bolster pillow, or decorative pillows
    • A throw blanket is optional, but not a necessity for a good looking layered bed

Quince Linen Sheets

Let’s begin by dissecting the sheet set. With spring just around the corner, linen felt like the perfect choice to give us longevity throughout the summer months. I landed on the European striped linen sheets, which are made of 100% European flax. They’re made without the use of harmful chemicals, pesticides, and are a solid breathable choice that feel light & cozy year round… a natural quality of linen. You also know I love a timeless stripe! These took no time at all to break in, do not feel scratchy in the slightest, and perfectly fit our king size bed. This set comes in a variety of colors…

Quince Linen Duvet Cover Set

Next, I decided to snag a duvet set. Since we will be updating our bedroom and the paint colors are TBD at this point, I decided to keep things monochromatic, classic, and neutral. I ordered the European linen duvet cover set in the color “sand”. In person, it reads a bit warmer than my photos. Like the sheets, it’s made of 100% European flax. It includes a duvet cover and two pillowcases, all of which are breathable and cooling. I also appreciate it includes inner ties to keep the duvet insert in place.

Quince Linen Quilt Set

The last component I grabbed for our bed was the linen box quilt set– also in the same color, sand. Like its matching counterparts, it’s made of 100% European flax, is breathable, cooling, and has a lofty, cloud-like texture with the 4″ quilted squares. The quilt did take longer than the sheet set and duvet to soften, but after 2-3 spin cycles in the washing machine… it relaxed, ultimately feeling very soft.

How to Care for Linen Bedding

The good news about my new Quince bedding- it’s low maintenance and machine washable. I set the sheets, quilt, and duvet on the delicate cycle with cold water. Once they’re finished washing, I tumble dry on low or air-only… then I’ll hang them to finish dying. I’ve had zero shrinking, and I’ve washed everything at least 4-5 times now. You can use a steamer or hot iron as needed, if the wrinkles annoy you, but I recommend embracing them… as that’s part of the charm of linen!

Aesthetically speaking, the best thing about linen bedding is the texture and softness. It’s relaxed, it’s casual, and inviting, which makes us embrace the texture… including a little wrinkling. It’s fuss-free! It’s like a good pair of jeans… they never go out of style, they fit perfectly, and they make you feel right at home. Linen bedding does the same!

We landed on these neutral linens because I have yet to nail down our bedroom paint color, so I wanted to ensure our new bedding would look nice against any palette. Our wool upstairs carpet is obviously new, so that will be staying- and I really like the bedding paired alongside the carpet. I feel like I have space to get more creative with the walls and art, when it comes time to begin our renovation. Honestly, the bedroom shouldn’t take much.

FAQ

I also want to swap my bedding for the season… do you think Quince is worth buying?

I do! You truly can’t beat the price and quality. Every order I’ve placed (be it fashion or home items), I’ve been thoroughly impressed. Consider this my designer stamp of approval! All of their items feel like classic capsule pieces.

How is it holding up?

We’ve been using this bedding for a month now, and so far- so good. I’ve washed it weekly, and everything continues to become softer with each wash. I haven’t noticed any loose threads, shrinkage, pilling, or wear at this point. I’ll definitely keep you updated!

Why are items from Quince so affordable, in comparison to similar products?

Their business model is direct-to-consumer, which makes their items more affordable. It seems they are able to source directly from the manufacturer, specifying higher-end materials, eliminating the traditional supply chain that involves warehousing, wholesaling, and distributing. If you’re curious, everything is made in ethically sourced, fair trade factories… that was something I researched before my first order with them!

Ironically, the cashmere sweater I’m wearing in the below image is also from Quince (a happy accident, as I didn’t plan that), but I also can attest to their clothing.

  1. Yay, yay, and more yay! Good morning Sarah. I had a beloved heavyweight linen duvet (Casaluna brand), that was absolutely destroyed by Humpty Dumpty (aka Rocky). I finally threw it out when he managed to rip a hole in it. To his credit, the kids didn’t help- what started as repairable became child-size with a hide & seek session. 🫠 I tried to order a replacement but the color I loved was discontinued. Enter the endless search. We know all linen isn’t created equal, and sizing can vary so much (whyyyy). I stumbled on Quince and fell in love with what they had to offer. So many colors!! Ultimately, I didn’t pull the trigger because Rocky was still… Humpty. There was also a part of me that questioned the incredible pricing- surely that meant a sacrifice in quality. When you shared on stories I was ecstatic to know your review. Now that you’ve given a stamp of approval, I’ll be shopping them for a quilt or matelassé. I had no idea they also sell clothing- I spy a perusal this morning! It will be a great distraction- I have a dental procedure and I’m uncertain what the aftermath will feel like- online shopping sounds like way more fun! Thanks for sharing your full review. I love the blanket slate you’ve given yourself, and that bed looks mighty cozy. So excited for the kickoff of this renovation, and can’t wait to see what color you land on for the walls. Cheers to early spring, (it feels like faux spring here- but I’m embracing it too), new projects, and rejuvenated creativity! Xoxo

That’s what I’m saying, Lauren! Also LOL to Rocky and your kids. I’ve loved shopping at Quince for clothing, so I can’t believe it has taken me this long to try some of their home items… 10/10. You can’t beat their prices, based on the quality & material. Let me know which matelassé you land on. I live in their sweaters all winter long, and they’ve become my capsule staples in my closet. I hope your dental procedure went well- those are never fun. Hope you’re taking it easy, friend!! It’s definitely faux spring here, but I’m all for it.

  2. Hello and good morning! What’s nicer than fresh bedding? I adore the notion of actual linen linens, but I do worry about strength based on my varying experiences with linen clothing. Good to know that you’ve found them high quality. Quince prices certainly can’t be beat.🤯 I love the stripes you chose, naturally, and I am also intrigued by a linen box quilt. Sounds like an extra dreamy extra layer! (I see they have some gorgeous colors too!😍) Although we are enjoying days in 50s this week, our nighttime temps of 21 preclude a bedding switcheroo just yet. 😁🥶 Spring will arrive soon though.🤞 As always, thanks for your thoughtful recommendations. Cheers to finishing February with a flourish!🤣💜

I love swapping our bedding for spring… and getting fresh bedding this year made my entire month. Ha! I’ll keep you posted on how the linen wears, but it feels pretty durable. I’ll admit, I went on a bit of a Quince spring shopping spree and ended up with a lounge set and linen button down, in addition to the bedding. Laurie Anne is the one who turned me onto their clothing a few years back. Cheers to finishing February with a flourish, indeed! Hope you’re having a sunshine-filled day.
