Ralph Lauren Inspired Silver Glass Hurricanes for Any Budget

I hope your week is off to a lovely start! There is a chill in the air that has me eager for autumn, and the cozy accents that accompany the season ahead. I’ve been noticing a clear and classic trend that I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of this fall- well into the holiday season… glass hurricanes with metallic accents. While Ralph Lauren has retailed this signature look for the past 5-6 years, those heirloom hurricanes are quite an investment (anywhere from $400-$800). Click through for my curated Ralph Lauren inspired silver glass hurricanes… for any budget. If you’re looking to achieve a similar timeless look for less, I’ve got you!

I first took note of these stunning hurricanes during a trip to High Point a few years ago. I captured multiple photos from the Ralph Lauren showroom, knowing I’d love to make space for one someday. Last year, during my travels in Bangkok, I noticed them elegantly lining the storefront of RL Home, but couldn’t justify the price at that time. I’m thrilled to see more accessible versions beginning to grace the market. Since then, I’ve been styling my own version of simple glass hurricanes, as they’ve become a best-seller in the Tuesday Made shop. While both of those versions have since been discontinued, I’ve been coveting the RL options with polished silver accents.

Hurricane Styling Ideas

So where exactly might you style some of these pretty polished nickel & silver hurricanes? I’ve got lots of ideas (while awaiting mine to arrive), but as far as visuals are concerned… Josh Young’s styling feels most inspiring (side note- I’ve got something fun with Josh planned for you soon).

I’m partial to the polished nickel versions at the moment, as you can probably tell from the collage above, but many of these are also available in brass- if you prefer a warm metal!

FAQ

Which option do you have from the collage above?

I just purchased a couple of these- the McGee & Co version, as well as one from Amazon, and I’m eagerly awaiting their arrival. I’ll be sure to show you how they compare and how I style it.

Do you think these will go out of style, since we’re beginning to see more of them?

Definitely not… glass hurricanes have been around forever. They’re timeless & traditional, even if they’re having a popular moment. There’s a reason why the Ralph Lauren versions are called “heirloom”… that’s the kind of decor you pass down for generations.

Where do you like to buy basic candles for these?

These are my go-to basic taper candles, and my favorite simple pillar candles! I prefer the ivory color that looks creamy white.

With that, I’m off to New York for the Better Homes & Garden event! I actually managed to snag a reservation at Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bar, which let’s be real- I wanted to see in person strictly for design inspiration and a good cocktail. I’ll bring you along if you follow on Instagram. Here’s to a fun week ahead. I hope you liked this post!

  1. Happy Monday!
I love a beautiful pair of hurricanes and Ralph Lauren always inspire. So cool you will be visiting the Polo bar 🍸in NYC! Exciting!
I love the Tottenham taper holders by McGee and Co. I noticed them last Christmas when featured in their catalog. They will look beautiful in your home. Can’t wait to see how you style them.
I actually really loved the ones you carried in your shop they were simply stated and classic not to mention affordable.
I purchased a pair of hurricanes about 20 years ago ( I still love them) but mine are quite tall and a rubbed bronze finish. They work well with the equestrian vibe in our sitting room but polished nickel is a classic finish and will forever be in style.
Have a wonderful week Sarah! Cheers to your travels running smoothly and have the most amazing time 🥂🥳❤️

Happy Monday, Colleen! I’m definitely excited to check out the Polo bar. My McGee & Co box is arriving later today, so I think I’m going to miss it before heading to the airport, but once I get back- I’ll be excited to style it. I also love the ones from my shop- I have those all over our house… they’re my favorite! I like that you can use a taper or a pillar candle in those. Your bronze hurricanes sounds fabulous. I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

  2. I love a good hurricane- they are such a moment. Good morning, and safe travels to New York! I hope you have the best time. An appointment at Polo Bar sounds like a dream outing- even if you’re only going for the inspiration. While I’m nowhere near the styling phase in the front room, I’m taking notes on elements I’d love to work in. Who can resist anything with a polished nickel finish?? I love your placement suggestions, and will definitely be coming back to this one. We finally got a major cool down over the weekend, and now I’m ready for all things fall. Lol. Cheers to a fantastic week ahead! Have so much fun in New York!

Same, and thanks Lauren! We must have gotten that same cool down, which was so nice & needed. Bring on pumpkin treats, sweaters, boots, and all the fun things, ha! Hope your week is a good one, too!

  3. Good morning and happy Monday! I always admire the hurricanes styled with pillars in your home. Elegant, reflective, and practical protection for flames. I didn’t imagine they needed embellishment, but I really do love the metal accents! I’m especially drawn to the simpler styles with a minimal pedestal like those from Pottery Barn, WS Home, and Bed, Bath & Beyond (🤯). The chunky pedestal number from Amazon is pretty great too. I could definitely envision a pair on my mantel, coffee table, or incorporated into a dramatic tablescape. Now that you’ve brought them to my attention, I bet I’ll be spying them everywhere! As for Josh Young, he’s certainly a master at making all that white seem warm and inviting. So many layers! And nothing like a sneaky little parenthetical to pique my interest. You. Have a fantastic week of travel! I look forward to IG updates and highlights. Too touristy to take pictures in the Polo Lounge?🤣💜

Happy Monday, Peggi! Aren’t the metal accents fun? They have an antique look. I like that hurricanes are also a bit more dog friendly. Crosby’s swishing tail always makes me nervous around open candles, ha.. and they’re heavy enough to not be knocked over. I’ll definitely be that girl taking all the pics of the RL lounge for the sake of design inspo. You can count on me, haha! Hope you have a good week, friend!
