15 Best Home Decor Finds from Walmart for 2024
It’s time for a new in-person shopping trip post, and this time we’re checking out Walmart. Lauren requested this one, and I have to say- I hadn’t been into a Walmart in a long time, but grew up going often. Living in a super remote location, often means Walmart is the closest or most accessible store. It was a fun challenge to poke around and see what caught my attention at the big box retailer. I came home with a few items, too. Click through for my 15 best home decor finds from Walmart. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at my picks and the prices! Let’s go shopping, shall we?

If you missed my last few shopping trip posts, be sure to check out my Finds from Pottery Barn, Finds from Target, Finds from HomeGoods, and Finds from World Market! My hope is these in-person style shopping posts will help you navigate accessible stores nearby and provide a fun peek into what I’d actually buy, as a designer. Walmart definitely checks the budget boxes, if you’re looking for some affordable home finds. Let’s go inside!
1. Vanilla White Steel Pedestal Bowl
This pedestal bowl was right up front with the seasonal store selections. It’s made of steel, so it can be used both indoors and out. I like the pedestal base, classic shape, and the oversized scale. It would be perfect as a fruit bowl on the kitchen counter, or as a succulent planter for an outdoor centerpiece. Or, better yet- how about an easy moss DIY centerpiece for summer?

Shop the Pedestal Bowl $8.94
2. Rattan Oval Caddy
The next item that grabbed my attention was this resin rattan oval caddy. This would be ideal for outdoor dinner parties, holding utensils, or simply as an organizer. I could envision this working well in a kitchen or laundry room. The size is really generous.

Shop the Woven Caddy $9.98
3. Contrast Stitch Fringe Napkins
I came home with two sets of these contrast stitch fringe napkins, as you probably noticed in the intro photo. For less than $7, these cotton blend napkins have a high-end designer aesthetic that would be perfect for an al fresco summer tablescape. That’s exactly how I intend to use them!

Shop the Napkins $6.98
4. Fabric Lined Laundry Basket
These fabric lined laundry baskets felt very substantial and durable. They come in a short, basket size (pictured), as well as an extra tall hamper. I really liked the tie detail, wooden handles, and washable fabric liner… not to mention, the price.

Shop the Laundry Basket $24.53
5. Cotton Quilt
It’s the season of picnics and light bedding… this cotton quilt would work well for either. This was available in a few different colors, but the beige felt most classic to me. The lofty and lightweight cotton gauze material had a really nice feel to it. It looks far more expensive in person than it actually is!

Shop the Quilt $65 (king size)
6. Signature Soft Bath Towel
These signature soft bath towels are made of 90% cotton and 10% viscose, giving them a luxe feel. These actually rival my high-end Parachute towels in our guest bathroom. They’re the same size and look nearly identical… but for a fraction of the cost.

Shop the Bath Towels $8.78
7. Woven Fringe Table Runner
This woven fringe table runner reminded me of the Serena & Lily one I shared in my outdoor living tour of the dining space. It’s made of 100% cotton, has a nice fringe edge, a timeless color palette, and would make a great base for any tablescape… indoors or out.

Shop the Table Runner $13.74
8. Faux Stone Vanity Organizers
I couldn’t find these online and realized they sold out on the Walmart website… but there were plenty stacked up and available at my local store. These had a beautiful designer look in person… almost like limestone. They’re labeled as sandstone, and would be perfect for vanity organization.
Shop the Sandstone Vanity Items $12 and under
9. Striped Cotton Throw
This 100% striped cotton throw came home with me. This is the copper color. I couldn’t resist grabbing it, after touching it. It’s perfectly soft, lightweight, gauzy, has a stunning color palette, and stripes are always a good idea. For less than $13, this was a no brainer.

Shop the Throw $12.97
10. Textured Collapsible Storage Bins
Collapsible storage bins have certainly come a long way. These textural woven bins would be ideal for pantry organization, laundry cabinets, or open office storage. They’re also very affordable! I considered grabbing a pack for my prop closet… I may need to go back.

Shop the Storage Bins $16.02 for a 4-pack
11. Linen Blend Curtain Panels
This linen blend curtain panel goes to show that pretty drapery panels don’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Paired with curtain rings or pleating hooks, these would give a very high-end custom look… and for less than $23 per panel! They’re also blackout, for added versatility.

Shop the Curtain Panels $22.98
12. Basic Votive & Pillar Candles
I buy the majority of my basic candles from Walmart. I prefer the off-white color, but they also have regular white. Those glass votives and pillar candles end up on every tablescape I create! I really enjoy layering them during the fall months and holiday season.
Shop Candles starting at $3
13. Waffle Weave Cotton Blanket
This waffle weave cotton blanket is made of 100% cotton, is washable, and less than $30 for a king size. That’s a steal! I’d use this layered as bedding- or a matelassé. It’s a classic find!

Shop the Blanket $28.96 (king size)
14. Matte Black Vase
I stumbled upon this matte black vase and was impressed with the scale… it measures over 10″ tall. I could see this stuffed with fresh cut hydrangeas this summer season- or dried ones in the fall. It has a nice timeless shape as well.

Shop the Vase $15.97
15. Hand Carved Wood Tray
Last, but not least… this hand carved wood tray reminded me of a smaller vintage dough bowl. It’s around 12″ and would be perfect for shelf styling, open kitchen shelving, styled as a fruit bowl, or styled on a coffee table or entry table as a catch all.

Shop the Tray $14.97
Tips for Shopping for Timeless Home Decor at Walmart
I know Walmart gets a bad rep for disposable home decor, but I’ll say this (as a designer)… if you dig and are conscious of materials, you can find some really beautiful, nicely crafted essentials at extremely affordable prices. Anytime I make a home purchase, I want it to last and be something I’ll love for years to come. When shopping at big box stores, like Walmart, that’s always something I keep in mind. Here are 5 of my best tips for grabbing things that won’t end up being donated later on…
- Stick to the Essentials – items like I’ve shown throughout this post… kitchen goods, bath linens, functional everyday items.
- Choose Items Made of Natural Materials – look for solid wood, stoneware, 100% cotton, 100% linen, marble, etc.
- Double Check the Quality & Craftsmanship – everything has to pass my quality & craftsmanship inspection. Is it well made? Are there rough edges? Does it have a nice weight? Does it look cheap?
- Avoid Trendy Items – There are lots of trendy home items that will be out of style later this year… avoid those.
- Purchase with Longevity in Mind – choose items you know you’ll still like in 3-4 years. Keep the words “timeless” and “classic” in mind when making purchases.

FAQ
Definitely their signature brand, Better Homes and Gardens… at least in the store. Online, you can shop so many different brands- even designer brands.
While venturing into my local store was fun, I prefer shopping Walmart online. Their online selection is huge and easier for me to navigate.

I hope you liked this one! Crosby has already claimed the striped throw in the maroon guest bedroom. I cuddled up with it for a few chapters, and came back to this scene. Which store should I plan a shopping trip for next? I’ll be catching up on comments today, too… I’ve been behind since we were out of cell range last week. Thanks for being patient with me! Apparently I’ve been in a summer state-of-mind. I hope you’re having a fantastic week!
